Cleaning Kitchens to Prevent Diseases

According to a reliable source, over 200 known diseases are being transmitted through food found in the kitchen. Food borne diseases are causing a lot of deaths each year, particularly in the US. If you love eating food, then you should be responsible enough to clean it in an effective yet simple way. Preventing several cases of food borne illness is always the best policy when you are concerned about the health of your family or household members. For this reason, you can make it a habit by constantly cleaning your kitchen after every use.

Since it is very hard to clean the kitchen when things are blocking your way, you must set aside any gadget or appliance occupying extra space. You may store small gadgets into cupboards or cabinets. Refrigerators must be cleaned out on a regular basis by discarding any food that shows signs of spoilage. You may use detergent and water to clean them. Stove tops must also be cleaned up each time you cook. Warm soapy water or a kitchen cleaner is appropriate. Microwave ovens are also great breeding area of mould and mildew. So you must wipe out all excess food droppings after each use.

Meanwhile, work surfaces are considered the most dangerous areas of the kitchen. Hands, food and utensils may come in contact directly with these surfaces for a number of times each day. Kitchen cleaning sprays or soapy water can be used to do so. Most importantly, do not let dry dirty dishes on the counter as bacteria may build up quickly on dirty dishes. Do not forget to replace dish towels and sponge regularly. This is because bacteria can survive for weeks on wet cloth or sponge.

Another thing that might be causing food contamination is allowing your pets to sit on countertops. They simply carry bacteria and parasites frequently that can be harmful to humans when ingested.
